Due to increasingly frequent contact with the world in the fields of culture, economy and business, the students in Taiwan need to be trained with great proficiency in foreign languages. In the long term, Taiwan has been keeping close relationships with Japan in international trade. Owing to the trade deficit between Taiwan and Japan is becoming more and more serious, we need to train more students whose Japanese proficiency is able to cope with the deteriorating situation. Hence, the department was set up in 1997.
